Blue Star Programme

5th Class took part in the Blue Star schools programme this year where we learned all about the countries in the European Union. The children really enjoyed learning and researching about EU countries. We completed excellent projects on an EU country, and also did projects on European history. We learned about the events that led to the formation of the EU and famous inventors, sports players, musicians, writers and artists from the EU. We have enjoyed doing paintings based on the work of both Pablo Picasso from Spain and Piet Mondrian from The Netherlands. Finally, we have learned general facts about the EU, the names of our local MEPs and what an MEP’s typical working day looks like. The children received certificates at the end of the programme.
