This week, 4th & 5th class students were learning all about ‘The Amazing Human Body’. They held an exhibition in the hall on Friday morning for the other classes. They shared all the information they had researched and learned throughout the week.
There were six teams of doctors. The teams were made up of neurologists (Emily, Emma, Matthew, Niamh & Sarah), Cardiologists (Christian, Peadar, Erin, Millie & Lilly), Gastroenterologists (Jim, Mia, Steven, Rían &Maeve), ENT – Ear, Nose & Throat Doctors (Adam, Calvin, Muireann, Abi & Grace), Orthopedic surgeons (Conor, Sean D, Isis, Laura & Jamie) and Pulmonologists and Opticians (Finan, Meinardas, Aoibheann, Sean C & Fionn). Each team presented their projects, experiments and findings to the other students who were very interested to learn how the body worked.
Prior to the exhibition, the class did a survey with the whole school on prior knowledge of the body organs and completed the same survey after the exhibition. The graphs show a huge improvement in pupils’ knowledge.
